About Your Therapist

I was born and raised in Alaska, and this has forever shaped who I am and how I engage in our world. I value close and authentic relationships in my personal life, and look for natural beauty wherever I am. I am nurtured by the natural world around me and find restoration through connecting with this beauty. I have two children, two cats and a dog.

I grew up in a community that was about 50% Native American (Haida, Tlingit, and Tsimshian) and benefited as I began to learn about the mosaic of culture. My parents were foster parents and from the time I was in middle school I was learning the life lessons about the effects of abuse and trauma on development.

I have always been a musician and initially went to college and studied music therapy in order to integrate my two interests of music and psychology. I worked within the California State Hospital system for several years and determined that I would like to continue my education. I attended UCLA to obtain my Masters in Social Welfare.

I lived and worked for several years in Ventura County, California, and then moved with my family to Tulare County in Central California. My family then was ‘able’ to move back to the PNW, and we are now feeling grounded and at home in this beautiful part of our country.
